09 Mar Business Kissing Etiquette
What is the best way to greet others in a professional setting? Should you kiss a co-worker when you greet them? What about when you meet a new colleague for the first time? Do you go for the left or right or both sides? This point of etiquette can cause a great deal of confusion!
Keep it simple: avoid kissing altogether in the workplace, even for those people you know very well. The reason? Kissing is a very personal act and it can make some people feel awkward and uncomfortable.
What to do if someone at work leans in for a kiss and you feel uneasy?
Just put out your hand for them to shake instead.
In business, when meeting people for the first time, or those you don’t know very well, use a firm handshake, maintain eye contact and smile.
Kissing should only be for the people you really care for, such as your close family and friends. If you do kiss, one is perfectly OK, approaching from the left to kiss the right cheek. However, in this case it’s up to you!
